Indecisive Libra?
Libra Isn't Indecisive
I keep seeing posts about Libra that begin with some variation of:
"Libra's. Can't make decisions because they struggle to choose what they want."
And honestly?
No.
That's an unembodied Libra.
There is a difference between not knowing what you want and knowing that, in some situations, what you want simply isn't the most important thing.
Ask me where I want to eat and I'll probably tell you I don't mind.
That's not because I have no preferences.
It's because there are very few situations where my entire evening is going to be ruined because someone else chose the restaurant.
I'll probably find something I like. I'll enjoy the food. More importantly, I'll enjoy the people I'm with.
My pleasure isn't diminished because somebody else got to choose.
Unless it's a sushi bar.
Then I suddenly become very decisive.
I like cooked food.
I'd probably suggest tapas.
And that's the bit I think people miss about Libra.
Sometimes we aren't indecisive.
We genuinely don't care.
There is a huge difference.
If we're deciding between two restaurants and I like both, why would I need to make everyone else's life revolve around my preference?
But give me something that actually matters to me and you'll find out very quickly that I am perfectly capable of saying yes or no.
If I'm spending time with a group of people whose energy I know I absorb, I'll consider that differently.
If something crosses a boundary, I'll know.
If something doesn't feel right, I'll say so.
If something matters to me, I won't suddenly become a puddle of indecision because I'm a Libra.
Because Libra is a cardinal sign.
That seems to get forgotten rather conveniently.
Cardinal energy initiates. It moves. It begins things.
Libra simply does it through relationship, perspective, negotiation, balance and judgement rather than charging through the door shouting, "I WANT THIS." 😂
And perhaps this is where the stereotype becomes particularly irritating.
People seem to have translated:
"I can see your perspective."
into:
"I don't have a perspective."
Those are not the same thing.
I can understand why you feel the way you feel without agreeing with you.
I can understand your choice without choosing it for myself.
I can consider how something affects you without abandoning how it affects me.
And I can choose to let you have what you want when I genuinely don't mind, without that meaning I'm incapable of standing up for myself.
Actually, I think there is a considerable amount of strength in that.
Because people don't always see the stronghold it takes to consider everything and still remember yourself.
There are lines.
There are things I won't compromise on.
There are situations where I know exactly what I want.
And then there are things that simply aren't that deep.
Where do you want to eat?
I don't know. You choose.
What do you want to watch?
I genuinely don't care. Pick something.
Do you want to go there?
Actually, no.
Should we spend the afternoon doing something that leaves me completely depleted?
Also no.
Are you asking me to sit through another conversation about the price of McDonald's when I've spent the morning thinking about human conditioning, consciousness, aliens, angels, awakening, what The Matrix was actually telling us in plain sight, and what my tarot cards apparently had to say about my car this morning?
Absolutely not.
At some point, Susan, Karen and Clive, I simply cannot keep filtering out my entire internal universe so that we can discuss who is going to win Love Island.
This isn't me being difficult.
It's just that my brain has gone somewhere else.
And this is where I think Libra gets misunderstood again.
We're not constantly floating around going:
"Ohhh. Okay, man. Whatever you want. I don't mind. I'll just agree so I don't have to experience your disappointment or backlash."
That's not necessarily Libra.
That's people-pleasing.
And there is a difference.
Sometimes I choose your preference because I actually don't mind.
Sometimes I choose mine because I do.
And knowing the difference is the important part.
Perhaps the most embodied form of Libra isn't someone who can't make a decision.
Perhaps it's someone who has learned that not every decision needs to be centred around themselves, while also knowing exactly which decisions do.
That isn't indecision.
That's discernment.
It's knowing when to say:
"You choose. I'll enjoy it."
And when to say:
"No. That's not for me."
It's understanding that harmony doesn't mean everyone gets what they want.
Sometimes harmony is simply knowing what is worth negotiating and what isn't.
So no, Libra isn't necessarily indecisive.
Sometimes we're just not interested in turning every tiny preference into a referendum on our identity.
I can see every side.
I can understand every perspective.
I can consider how my decision affects everyone around me.
And after I've considered all of that...
I can still choose.
Because seeing every side doesn't mean I don't have a side.
It means I've actually taken the time to find it.
And if that side happens to be tapas rather than sushi?
Well.
Some boundaries are simply non-negotiable.
