What if we don't Buckle?

I've been wondering what the puppet masters' end game actually is.

Yes. I'm using the words "puppet masters". We're going there.

I should probably clarify something before we wander too far down this particular rabbit hole. When I say "they", I'm talking broadly about the powers and systems that currently appear to hold disproportionate influence over the direction of our world. Governments, corporations, financial systems, intelligence agencies, global institutions, billionaires, lobbyists and whoever else you personally think is sitting further up the food chain.

And when I speak hypothetically, that doesn't mean I don't see what I believe are the mechanics at play. Quite the opposite. I've spent years researching different pieces of this enormous puzzle, talking to people from completely different walks of life, debating, meditating, spiritually channelling, questioning, listening and changing my mind when something new gives me reason to. I've had awakenings inside awakenings inside awakenings. Spiritual. Political. Social. Food. Education. Media. Consciousness. Power. I've kept my eyes open enough to know that I don't believe the neat version of reality we're generally handed is the whole picture.

But I'm also me.

My brain doesn't usually enjoy arriving at a conclusion, sticking a little flag in it and declaring the investigation closed. I want to turn it around. Argue with it. Look underneath it. Ask what else could explain it. Hear from somebody who completely disagrees with me and see whether they've spotted something I haven't. That's how I'm wired. So this isn't me saying I've worked it all out. This is me spitballing my way through a thought until, hopefully, it makes some kind of sense to somebody else.

And the thought currently rattling around my brain is this:

If so much of what we're watching is by design, what on earth is the end game?

Because when I zoom out from individual events and look at the whole picture, I keep coming back to the same question. How much pressure do you think humanity can take?

Look at it from micro to macro. Individual people are financially squeezed, exhausted, overworked and overloaded with information. Communities are divided. Countries are politically fractured. Internationally we have wars, inflation, surveillance, restrictions on freedom, migration crises, environmental anxiety, technological upheaval and governments increasingly reaching into people's lives while trust in those governments seems to be disappearing.

Then there are the things that make me stare at reality and wonder whether somebody has accidentally handed the script to a satirist.

We're watching horrifying stories of rape and sexual violence while governments across the world seem spectacularly incapable of making women feel protected. We're watching the Epstein story drip into public consciousness through a selected portion of the files, redactions, court battles, claims, counterclaims and questions about what still hasn't been disclosed. We're getting little teaser trailers about ETs and UAPs, because apparently even aliens need a marketing campaign now. A video here. An unexplained object there. Somebody formerly inside government says something about declassifying (getting bored of that word) alien files. Then silence. Tune in next season.

Meanwhile there are headlines about things like Mexican wolves potentially being removed from endangered-species protections and something ridiculous about fishing.

People are struggling to afford food and wars and genocide continue around the planet. Not just continuing. Potentially escalating. And sometimes I genuinely look at the whole thing and think:

What the actual fuck is happening?

Because if you wanted to control a population, exhaustion would surely be useful.

You wouldn't even need everybody to believe the same thing. In fact, perhaps it's better if they don't. Keep everybody arguing. Left versus right. Citizen versus immigrant. Rich versus poor. Black versus white. Men versus women. Religious versus atheist. Vaccinated versus unvaccinated. Conspiracy theorist versus normie. Anything versus anything. Just don't let everyone look up from the argument for long enough to ask who benefits from the room being on fire.

Divide and conquer.

Then add financial pressure. Add fear. Add surveillance. Remove another little piece of privacy. Normalise another restriction. Introduce another emergency. Tell everybody it's necessary. Tell them it's temporary. Tell them it's for their protection.

And eventually, humanity becomes so completely exhausted that instead of demanding freedom, we beg someone to save us.

Please. Just make everything safe again.

And there it is. Permission.

Are they not playing an extraordinarily dangerous game?

Because human beings don't only respond to pressure by submitting. Pressure can do something else entirely.

People can stop believing you.

And once that happens, how exactly do you put the toothpaste back in the tube?

I can see people questioning institutions they previously trusted without thinking. I see people looking for independent journalism, comparing information across countries and noticing how differently the exact same event can be presented depending upon who owns the camera. I see people asking why. Who benefits? Why are we being encouraged to hate these people? Why aren't we allowed to talk about that? Why does this story disappear while that one dominates every screen?

But awakening doesn't have one doorway.

That's something I've learned through my own.

One person arrives through politics. Somebody else through spirituality. Someone starts questioning what is in their food. Someone questions education. Medicine. Money. History. Religion. Technology. Consciousness. Somebody has an experience they simply cannot explain using the framework they've been given. Somebody catches an institution lying about something seemingly insignificant and suddenly wonders what else they've accepted without examination.

Different doors. Same corridor.

One awakening becomes another awakening becomes another, and eventually the wallpaper starts peeling everywhere.

And perhaps that is where any puppet master would have a problem.

Because what happens if you push humanity towards fear expecting submission and accidentally create the opposite?

Mass awakening.

What happens if isolation creates community? What happens if censorship creates researchers? What happens if propaganda creates sceptics? What happens if division eventually becomes so exhausting that people look across the imaginary battlefield and realise the person they've been instructed to hate is another ordinary human being wondering what the hell is going on too? <– I believe we are here.

If the hypothetical end game is to push humanity until we're desperate enough to surrender more autonomy in exchange for security, surely there has to be a calculation somewhere of precisely how far you can push.

And calculations can be wrong.

What if instead of breaking humanity, you wake it up?

Not necessarily into some enormous violent revolution. But who can say?

I'm talking about people simply stopping assuming that the systems we were born into are natural, permanent or inevitable simply because they were already here when we arrived.

Because they aren't.

Every human system currently governing our lives was imagined by some hierarchy from the past. Money. Borders. Governments. Corporations. Markets. Institutions. Rules. None of them grew out of the soil.

Which means we can make something else.

This whole blog idea took bloom with a picture, although It's not the first time I've dissected this subject.

I was looking at one of those "World Ahead" illustrations. You know the type. War. Missiles. Surveillance. Disease. Fire. Technology. Political figures. Chaos. Basically: Happy New Year, peasants.

So naturally, I asked AI to make me one for 2027.

It made something similarly chaotic and slightly dystopian and my immediate reaction was: No.

Fill mine with love and hope and happy promises.

So it did.

People together. Animals. Gardens. Books. Travel. Music. Nature. Creativity. Conversation. Community. A rainbow. Love.

Obviously.

And looking at it afterwards, I realised there was something important in that instinct.

Why am I spending time wondering what their end game is?

That's precisely where our attention is expected to remain.

There's a much more powerful question.

What is our end game?

What kind of civilisation do we want?

Because there are rather a lot more of us.

I don't want humanity frightened into obedience. I don't want children inheriting a world where war, rape, poverty, hatred, exploitation and oppression are regarded as unfortunate but unavoidable features of being alive. I don't want another generation taught that this is simply how humans behave and therefore this is how the world has to be.

I don't accept that.

And I don't particularly care whether somebody thinks that's naive.

I didn't request AI to redraw that image because I'm naive enough to think flowers, books, dogs and rainbows make everything happening in the world disappear. My eyes are open. That's precisely the point.

I've seen enough of the world I believe is being built for us to know that I want to imagine another one.

I hope that's where resistance really begins, by refusing to believe it's the only possible future.

So maybe that's the dangerous part of pushing humanity to its limit. Eventually people might stop asking the people in power to fix the world.

They might realise they can fix it, frommicro to macro.

And while the puppet masters are somewhere watching all of this unfold...

I'd probably start worrying about the crowd.

They've started noticing the strings.
